The Art of Goal Setting
If your goals aren't spot on, you're going to fail. Whoa, that sounds harsh, sorry! But the reality is, if what you are working towards doesn't make you giddy with excitement and motivation....it's not going to stick.
Hate to brag, but my clients no longer have this problem. Actually, I love to brag because it's not about me it's about them. It's me celebrating the amazing things they've achieved in their now passionate, inspiring and healthy lives. It's me saying, they did it and you absolutely can too! Their success really is my happiness.
So how do we do it?? I'm going to outline just 3 of the things we look at when designing our goals...
1. Are they realistic?
Think hard. What is your time frame, ability, experience, financial situation? Generally I see clients for 3 or 6 months at a time. Their goal must be achievable in this time. I want it to be a challenge to get there don't be fooled, but take this for example:
"Travel to New York and run the NY marathon" in 3 months with no running experience and no prior planning is really going to push the friendship. However....it is absolutely doable with the right, fitness, financial and mindset goals and a longer timeline.
2. Are they inspiring?
Does "lose 10kg" (as an example) really make you feel butterflies and give you that excited feeling of anticipation? Does it make you smile at odd moments? Or does it feel more like a chore, like a short term deprivation challenge?
Losing 10kg is something many of my clients want. But the actual goal we set has no number, no mention of "losing" anything, it's 100% about what they will gain. Happiness, success, feeling sexy again, feeling the healthiest they ever have. Working on an inspiring vision of your future self is far more exciting and you know the best bit? The weight loss happens naturally, without the stress.
3. How's your nutrition?
As part of your goal setting we will always look at your diet. I don't care if your overall goals are travel related, fitness related, health related.... if you are not nourishing your body with high energy, colourful, delicious food, you're missing one of the most important links!
Food is medicine, so learning how to prepare, choose, portion your food is key. After our coaching series you'll know how to feed the family healthy meal options, reduce your risk of diseases, manage health issues and deal with special occasions without the stress.
I just LOVE helping women and their families make healthier choices. When their eyes start to brighten as their future self becomes more and more real....that's the good stuff right there.
